Welcome to NanticokeSolar.com

The final reports prepared as part of the submission of a renewable energy application (REA) to the MOECC for this project are provided HERE. They correspond to EBR Registry number 013-1104, which can be found HERE at www.ebr.gov.on.ca.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and its partner Six Nations Development Corporation have been selected by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to develop a 44 MW Solar facility at Nanticoke, in Haldimand County to build and operate up to a 44 megawatts alternating current (MWAC) solar electricity generation facility on and near the existing OPG Nanticoke Generating Station (G.S.) site in Haldimand County, Ontario (“The Project”).

The Nanticoke GS is located on major industrial zoned land located south of Rainham Road, east of Nanticoke Road and bounded to the south by Lake Erie.  Solar Panels are being considered for four land parcels. One land parcel is located on the former coal pile. There are also three land parcels located immediately east of the Nanticoke GS site (west, central and east parcels).

Solar power captures the sun’s energy to generate electricity. Photovoltaic (PV) panels generate no greenhouse gas emissions, pollutants or noise.

More details about the project can be found under Project Information.
